Our hands-on, interactive workshops provide a behind-the-scenes look into all aspects of filmmaking and special effects that take place every day in our theme park and on our studio lot! As part of our commitment to education, we've designed programs to meet California State Standards while providing project-based curriculum.


VIP Student Backlot Tour

This tour takes students behind-the-scenes to visit closed sets, working sound stages, and even the incredible prop warehouse.

WaterWorld Technical Tour

Research and observe the fascinating secrets behind the special effects of WaterWorld® in a special on-site class. Discover the mystery of the Seaplane landing, the Mariner Jet Ski entrance, and the Deacon switch-off effects. With the assistance of a WaterWorld technician, students produce mathematical equations that explain the designs for each special effect.

Special Effects Tech Tour

Students will experience some of the technical secrets of Hollywood, such as green screen effects, stop motion photography and digital imagery. Working industry professionals take you through the technology behind some of your favorite box office hits!

Facts and Information Investigation (Grades 4-8)

Language Arts and English Learners
Students identify facts, take notes, and research information through written, visual, and supplemental materials available at Universal Studios Hollywood. Appropriate for English learners.

Life Science and Biology
Students identify and classify living and extinct animals into categories designated as plant-eating and meat-eating creatures. Students will use information sources found in libraries, textbooks, and in attractions at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Language Arts and English Learners
Students use various skills (observation, research, and investigation) to define a list of vocabulary words. Students will discover meanings of words through context clues, discussion, and hands-on experience. Appropriate for English learners.
